The "Busan Basic 3": Your First Simple K-Beauty Routine

So, you’ve done the test. You know if you’re Oily, Dry, or Combination. You know if you’re feeling Dehydrated or Sensitive.

The next question is always the same: "...Now what?"

It's tempting to jump into a 10-step routine, but as your expert guides, we're here to tell you that true, radiant skin is built on a simple, consistent foundation.

Welcome to the "Busan Basic 3".

This is the non-negotiable core of all healthy skin. It's the simple, powerful ritual we want our community to master first. This is your foundation for life.

-Step 1: CLEANSE

The Goal: To clean your skin, not "strip" it.

That "squeaky clean" feeling? That's not clean; that's damage. It means you’ve stripped away your Manto Hidrolipídico—your skin's natural, acidic shield that protects you from bacteria .

Your goal is to use a gentle, low-pH cleanser that removes impurities without compromising that crucial barrier.

  • When: Every single evening (PM). In the morning (AM), a simple rinse with water is often enough, especially for dry or sensitive skin.

  • Expert Tip: If you wear makeup or heavy sunscreen, we recommend a "Double Cleanse" (an oil cleanser first, followed by a water-based cleanser). More on that in a future guide!

-Step 2: MOISTURIZE

The Goal: To hydrate (add water) and moisturize (lock it in).

This is the step that fixes most skin "conditions." Remember: Dehydrated Skin lacks water, Dry Skin lacks oil (lipids).A great moisturizer does both.

  1. Hydration: First, you add water back into the skin (often with ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid or Glycerin).

  2. Moisturizing: Then, you lock that water in with lipids (oils). This is what repairs your skin barrier and fights TEWL (Transepidermal Water Loss)—the process where water evaporates from your skin.

  • When: Every AM and PM, right after cleansing (while skin is still slightly damp).

  • Expert Tip: Look for barrier-repairing heroes like Ceramides. Think of them as the "cemento" or "grout" that holds your skin cells (the "bricks") together.

-Step 3: PROTECT

The Goal: To shield your skin, every single day.

You can use the best cleanser and the most expensive moisturizer in the world, but it's all useless if you don't protect your skin from sun damage.

This is the #1 anti-aging, pro-health product you can ever use. K-Beauty is famous for its lightweight, effective sunscreens that feel amazing on the skin.

  • When: Every. Single. Morning. Rain or shine. Indoors or outdoors. This is the last step of your AM routine, always.

  • Expert Tip: Look for "Broad Spectrum" SPF 30 or higher. This protects you from both UVA (aging) and UVB (burning) rays.

Your New Ritual

That's it. Cleanse, Moisturize, Protect.

This is the foundation. This is the "Busan Basic 3".
